TPACK
TPACK is a theoretical framework that stands for Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge. It is a framework that helps teachers identify the ways in which they can integrate technology into their teaching, while also taking into account important aspects of pedagogy and content.

The three primary forms are explained below:
-
Content knowledge: Knowledge about the subject matter
-
Pedagogical knowledge: Knowledge about the processes and practices or methods of teaching and learning and how it encompasses overall educational purposes, values and aims. This includes knowledge about techniques or methods to be used.
-
Technology knowledge: Knowledge about standard technologies and more advanced technologies and the skills required to operate these technologies.

TPACK is where all three forms meet in the middle. It is knowledge on how all three are related to each other and all together. However, the TPACK framework goes even further to analyze the types of knowledge that lay in the intersections of each of these three forms.

These intersections are explained below:
-
Pedagogical Content Knowledge: knowing what teaching approaches fit the content and knowing how elements of the content can be arranged for better teaching
-
Technological Content Knowledge: Knowledge about the manner in which technology and content and reciprocally related
-
Technological Pedagogical Knowledge: Knowledge of the existence, components, and capabilities of various technologies as they are used in teaching and learning and knowing how teaching might change as a result of using particular technologies

Teachers of adult ESL newcomers should consider the TPACK framework when designing learning activities or projects. Keep in mind to start by considering the learning outcomes of the project or activity and how the technology you choose can be used as a tool to enhance learning in a meaningful and effective way.
